Please join Rocky Bleier and the Notre Dame class of ’68  at the DeBartolo Center on June 1 and 2 as Rocky presents his One Man show called, The Play.

From Rocky Bleier, “The Play takes us back in time and is a story that touches all the iconic touchstones of our lives; The Civil Rights movement, Notre Dame, Vietnam and in Rocky’s case the 70’s Steelers dynasty.

We start at my dad’s bar in Appleton Wisconsin where I will introduce you to some formative characters, childhood memories, an undefeated high-school career and those years we shared at Notre Dame and the fabled 1966 National Championship amid an era of civil rights protests.

The story continues in a neighborhood Pittsburgh bar and what I remember most that year is that I lost more games in my first six weeks playing for the Steelers, than I had in my entire career up to that point. At that time most people went to a Pittsburgh bar to forget about the Steelers. I didn’t finish that season that year as a lot of us where transported to the battlefields of Vietnam. We go from a firefight, to uncertainty, to the benevolence of an owner who helped enable my grueling rehab.

The third bar finds us in my home, reflecting on those glorious Super Bowl years, a divorce, what it means to be a hero and the randomness of life.”
